This is the website for Occupy Los Lunas, NM, a small town about 1/2 hour south of Albuquerque NM. We meet at River Park (on the east side of the Rio Grande Bridge on Main Street – Rt 6) every Sunday at 10 AM. [MAP]Why OccupyWe have all come together because we realize that our current political system does not work for the vast majority of the planet. Metaphorically, we are The important question to consider is whether an economic system whereby 1% own a grossly disproportionate and increasing share of the national wealth is a healthy economy, one in which you would want to live. The end-game of this process is similar to the Dark Ages of nobility and serfs when there was no Middle Class. For us, the global Occupy movement is primarily about participating in the global conversation and engaging our friends and neighbors to participate as well. All major social movements have resulted when a critical mass of people have taken to the streets and demanded change. This is how the Civil Rights Movement, the anti-Vietnam War Movement, Women’s Suffrage Movement all succeeded. And if we are to be successful in repairing our system of governance, this is how we will succeed too. If you agree, then we all need to come and participate together. Help get the word out to your friends and associates, and come and be part of the conversation. We do this so that we will leave our world better than we found it; to do otherwise is a crime against our children. Our Mission Statement
How and Why We Will Get ThereWe protest peacefully to attain a voice in the political process that has been influenced too heavily by wealth and no longer represents our interests. We do this so that we may leave the world a better place than we found it. To do otherwise is a crime.
Occupy NYC DeclarationAs we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies. As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known. See the Full Declaration

What Caused the Economic Crash
In the above video, Prof. Lawrence Lessig makes, what we think, is an excellent suggestion for how to reduce the corrosive effects of money on our political system. This video demonstrates the corrupting influence money has on, not only politics but even in supposedly scientific studies.
9/16/12 - Hate Note Thrown at Los Lunas OccupiersTerminology HistoryThe political terms 'left' and 'right' originated with the French Revolution of 1789 having to do with people sitting on the right of the King (supporters of the King) and on the left of the King (supporters of the Revolution). Today, we have the left composed mostly of Democrats (blue) and the right composed mostly of Republicans (red). (Read Paul's full article on OpEdNews.)
